Newcastle boss Eddie Howe believes Nicolas Jackson red card was “100%” correct and praised Nick Pope for his superb save in the Magpies’ 2-0 win over Chelsea.

A big match between Newcastle and Chelsea in the Champions League next season was shown a red card. After Jackson elbowed Sven Botman in a turning point of the game.

“My instinct in the beginning ทางเข้า UFABET สำหรับสมาชิกใหม่ สมัครวันนี้ รับโบนัสฟรี was – it’s a red card – because I saw Jackson wasn’t looking at the ball,” Howe said.

“He was looking at the player and I think that always puts you in a risky position. Especially if you put your elbow like he did.

“I just saw it on TV and for me, my opinion is still the same. I think it was a red card.”

Meanwhile, Howe praised goalkeeper Nick Pope for his two saves that kept the score alive. And secured all three points in the race for a Champions League place next season.

“Credit to Chelsea for playing well but credit to us for making the saves in difficult moments and you could feel it all over the pitch. We were very strong and that’s where I have to mention Nick. Because I thought those two saves were world class. “

It’s a massive win for us. We knew about it before the game, we knew how important it was. It was very tight and that put us in a stronger position. But it’s still very close and we have two more games where we have to be focused and try to get as many points as possible.”

Newcastle are now third, three points clear of sixth-placed Aston Villa with two games remaining against Arsenal (away) and Everton (home).
